Focus: Performance based program to develop and support competitive snowboarders through a dedicated program aimed at optimizing technical and athletic development, with targeted goals and events.
This program is designed to support the needs of a dedicated freestyle/slopestyle athlete who wants to learn, grow, compete and advance in any of the sport's disciplines (Slopestyle, Boardercross, banked slalom). Typically, the program will run every Saturday and Sunday,(optional Fridays in January) throughout the winter and ideally will be integrated with off-season technical training into a yearly plan to optimize technical development.
This program will include some physical training as part of every daily training session. Additional training may be organized during the year to optimize participation in certain competitions and/or camps.
Increased training volume is needed at this stage to optimize each athlete’s long-term potential and to safely acquire the competency to perform more difficult technical skills.
This is the highest level snowboard program offered by Apex Freestyle, designed for motivated young snowboarders ages 12 and up, that want to take their skills to the next level. Skiers enrolled in this program will be encouraged to participate in BC Snowbord series events as well as community events like the Neil Edgeworth Banked Slalom and the Rattlecat Cup.
For athletes not participating in any given competition, alternate training plans will be made.
*Note that as applicable there will be additional costs for athletes such as competition registrations, competition coaching, extra camps, and dryland training.
All athletes will have access to the Apex Freestyle Terrain Area AFTA which is a development initiative between Apex Mountain Resort and the Apex Freestyle Club. It exists to provide training and competition opportunities for the sport of freestyle and all of its athletes.
