MEET COACH ROB:

After starting full time coaching in 1991 in Calgary, I had short stints in Prince George and Squamish/Whistler before arriving in Penticton and Apex Mountain in 1999, and this has been home ever since.

While living in the Okanagan for the last 20+ years I have served Freestyle Ski Teams representing BC, Alberta, Canada, and most recently, China. Though I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have coached my sport at the highest level and worked with World and Olympic Champions and many World Cup medallists, this path has required me to spend way too much time away from home. It has long been on my mind to settle into a role at Apex, and I’m incredibly grateful to have that opportunity this season. Constant travel has kept me from ever spending very much of my winters skiing at Apex, but I have been around enough over the years to witness the development of many many great skiers and the evolution of Apex Mountain Resort and the Apex Freestyle Club into a thriving training centre including becoming quite possibly the best training venue for Mogul Skiing anywhere in the world.

The Freestyle Skiing community, not just locally but internationally, has benefited so much from the hard work and dedication of many many special Apex people: volunteers, coaches and the owners and staff of Apex Mountain Resort itself.

I consider myself very lucky indeed to have watched my own family grow up skiing at Apex, and to be a part of the fantastic skiing community here. Thank you to everybody involved for building this special place and community, and for giving me the opportunity to help continue building the legacy here at Apex.
